Q. Can Foreigners own property in Thailand?

A. It has always been illegal for foreigners to own land in Thailand, other than condominiums in a building where no more than 49% of the total units are owned by foreigners. Therefore to own land, a house or a condominium in a building that is over the 49% limit, a foreigner must setup a Thai nominee company which will hold the title to the property.
